Son-oma Beach
Cursed bunny rabbit. I swear to God if I see
that rabbit hopping around here next year, we're gonna have ourselves
some rabbit stew instead of (turkey) ham for Easter dinner.

Granted, it's close to that TOM again, so I have to cut myself a bit
of slack, but not by much. I haven't been exercising because once
again I've been consumed by the damned school saga. I did make a
phone call to a therapist I see off and on and said that I need to get
in for a visit or two because this crap is eating me alive. I also
made an appointment to see my FNP after reading Rebeka's more recent post about transitioning from Prozac
to a newer drug that seems to have had some positive results, but more
importantly, she mentioned that the Prozac had been contributing to
some of her weight gain and after I got to thinking about it, I
started having problems not losing as I had been prior to going on the
medication myself. Back then, it was cyclic to help with the severe
mood swings associated with PMS, however, it's since been upped to a
slight amount daily with an increase right around that TOM, so it
stands to reason this could be a part of my problem. Note,
part. I do realize that consistent and regular exercise is the larger
contributor to my success ... and without it, it's a huge contributor
to my failure. We shall see how this pans out.
Sarah
had recently complained about weight gain she attributes to water
retention. I had commented that I, too, gain a lot of weight with
fluid retention (in the range of 5-10 lbs. consistently) and that my
endocrinologist/former fat doc didn't believe it until I came in and
proved to him that it can and does happen. Men. Anyway, I had
recently talked to my Mom about this disgusting trait and she said
that she typically prescribes (as she's an FNP) a diuretic to anyone
who retains 3 or more lbs. because it has a great deal of effect on a
variety of factors -- including mood swings. Since I learned about
Sarah's similar experience and shared what Mom had told me, I
suggested she consider an OTC diuretic the first go and if that works,
then talk to the doc to get an RX. However... Mom corrected me
yesterday and said that the RX is far more beneficial and the more
accurate judge of whether that will help resolve the problems
associated with monthly fluid retention whereas the OTC isn't an
accurate guage. So... Sarah and all others, take note. She also said
that even women who've had hysterectomies but still have ovaries
(hence still go through cyclic changes), such as herself, will also
benefit from the RXed diuretic (which has a sizeable amount of
potassium, another contributor which she claims you can't get
OTC).
If you haven't done so yet, please stop by my new blog, Dreams and take a gander. I'd
love any feedback you can throw my way. Seems I'm either leaving
people speechless or ... but I do so much better when I get any kind
of feedback, even if it's just a "hey, dropped by and wanted to let
you know I visited". And yeah, this doc shall heal thyself... wink
wink. Look for your own blog's comments from yours truly tomorrow
night cuz right now, I gotta hit the hay so I can take the kids to a
fun-filled day up the road a bit that they've been looking forward to
for over a month now. Toodles!
